Hello! My name is Alison Ostergaard and I am a potter in New York City. My studio and gift shop are located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. All pieces are handmade on site from porcelain or stoneware clay. It is functional and meant to be used often. I find inspiration in nature mainly from smooth rocks and flower petals and I am currently working through many experimental ideas which I find exciting. You can see photos and videos of the process by following @OstergaardPottery on Instagram or Facebook. Also, visit the Gallery and Blog pages of this website.
Your interest in my work means the world to me! Thank you for visiting!
I use high fire fine translucent porcelain and various stoneware clays fired in an electric kiln to 2300 degrees Fahrenheit. The pieces are either thrown on the potter's wheel, formed with soft slabs of clay, or pinched. I do not use slip molds. I make small batches and many pieces are one of a kind in design. All work is non-toxic, food, microwave, oven and dishwasher safe (though washing by hand is recommended).
